VISUALIZATION

A Coping Exercise

This activity allows people the opportunity to create models of ways to cope with particular situations.

Picture someone else coping easily with a situation that would normally be difficult for you. Now, imagine yourself imitating these actions.

1. What are the behavior traits that you value and wish to have as your own?

2. Think of someone who possesses those traits.

3. Imagine this person reacting to situations you encounter. How would he/she deal with it? See it in your mind.

4. Practice this imagery regularly before physically imitating the behavior.
